THE MOUNTAIN

Real Estate And Community, In The White Mountains Of Arizona

Have I missed your comment?

I’m a little new to WP so I may be sweating for no reason. But if you’ve left a comment here on The Mountain and haven’t seen it show up, please let me know. I’ve noticed that my spam filter has stopped 7 spam, but I haven’t seen them and can’t find them, so it has me worried.

In blogging it is very important that I not only get your comments, but that I respond to those comments as well. This is why we call it a community. You don’t have to agree with me, but you do have to be civil. The best thing I could hope for is for us to have an open forum to discuss things that are on our minds. That is where we all learn.

So if you’ve commented on something in the past couple weeks that you haven’t seen show up yet, I hope you’ll either contact me to let me know, or try the system out again and see what it does, then contact me. This is actually the best thing, b/c it helps you let me know what is going on.

If you take the time to help me on this, I want you to know that I really do appreciate it! I updated from 2.3 to 2.3.1 and started to see this issue with my spam filter. Ordinarily I,ll be notified of the spam and then be able to see it. But for some reason I can’t find and look at the spam that I’ve been “protected from”. So this makes me start to wonder what’s going on.

Again thank you for your help, and for being a valued contributer to The Mountain! Especially if you don’t agree with me on something!

Who Calls The Shots?

Today is blog action day, so I thought I would do my part, and ask a couple questions. I love nature, and I happen to live in an area where nature is everywhere, the air is clean, and people are spread out more than somewhere like L.A. or New York.

Do I as a human have the ability and the power that it would take to control nature and the course that it takes? To own the ability to change nature, we would have to own the ability to create nature. Look at anything where we have the power to control the outcome. If we are building something, we own the ability to create it the way we want. The last time I checked I didn’t have the ability to create the materials to build with, but I do have the ability to use the materials to create something “man-made”. It will always be something “man-made”, ’til the end of time. If I build a lake, and eons from now nobody knows that it’s Scott’s lake, it will still be man-made whether they know it or not. I couldn’t create the water; I couldn’t create the earth; I couldn’t create the organisms that decide to live there. But I used the materials that I had at my disposal to make something. How did we come to this conclusion that we have this power to create?

I didn’t have the ability to create my own life in my mother’s womb; if I did, why wouldn’t I make myself better looking or smarter or taller than anyone else so I could really stick out?

So where do we go from here? I mean we have people telling us that the earth is overpopulated. What’s the next step? I love it here in the White Mountains for a lot of reasons, including nature. But I wouldn’t tell you that we have to thin the population down so you have to go because it’s getting too crowded here. I don’t believe in taking someone’s life because they just don’t have anything more to offer the rest of us. And who has the power to say “when is when”? I think everyone would agree that this would have to be in the hands of the ever-loving government. The governments of the world are always cleaner and smarter than the rest of the people, right?

I do believe we have the power to clean the air and keep the streams clear. But we shouldn’t do that at the expense of mankind’s existence. And I don’t believe we should worship the creation rather than the Creator, Who after all gave us life and nature.

Have a GOOD Blog Action Day!
