Apache County Zoning 4

Do you have a few pets around the house? A few good hound dogs and maybe a couple cats to keep the OTHER varmints down? Well if you live in Apache county you may want to check the zoning laws that may soon be in effect. CLICK HERE to download the ordinance, or to see it and follow along.

You may be considered a kennel and will have to be licensed as such. Article 25 in section 2507 it says: “Dogs and cats. Having more than a combined total of six dogs or cats six months of age or older constitutes a kennel and requires a kennel permit”.

Now I know that some people get carried away with having too many dogs or cats but I really don’t believe that we need the county governments micromanaging our every move. This is what is wrong with this country. There always has to be someone standing behind you making sure that you feel the power they hold over you.

In section 2509 it talkes about junk. And the definition of a junk vehicle is: “a nonoperating automobile or an automobile without a license from the Department of Motor Vehicles.” How many times have you had a vehicle sitting around because you just have not had the time to fix it? Well if someone has a grudge against you and reports your “nonoperating” vehicle to the authorities, are they not obligated to take action against you now?

This stuff gets under my skin. I believe in property rights. My idea of a good neighbor is someone who talks to me when they have a problem and not to the AUTHORITIES! This CREATES busy bodies and encourages people to just be nasty with each other. I’m sure that ten years down the road Apache county will have a nice manicured look, BUT WILL YOU WANT TO LIVE THERE?

On a happy note, it looks like they may have dropped the requirement that you have a two car garage or carport if you have a manufactured home.

Also Mary from P&Z said a few days ago that after the meeting on August 28th that they are still hoping for this to be in effect on November 1st.
